Marie-Ellen and Peter
Amidst the well-deserved celebration of same sex marriage finally being legalized in our home state of New York and all states throughout our country, people often forget that at one point in American history biracial marriage was forbidden. Luckily we have made great strides in demanding and winning marriage equality for all people. From Asian tea ceremonies mixed with traditional American practices, to same sex Hindu celebrations our photography and video team are honored to be able to memorialize the love stories of so many happy couples!
We recently had the honor of capturing the nuptials of this adorable biracial couple, Marie Ellen and Peter at the Prospect Park Picnic house. Our photographer started with the Groom at The Landing at Industry City (also home to our photo studio) with his groomsmen. The Landing is a community hub for the creative class with a strong focus on food and culture. The unique space can be rented for private events as well.
We then headed over to Prospect Park where Marie Ellen met her future husband. She was beautiful in a lace sheath gown and wore a crown of roses in lieu of a veil. Peter looked great in a gray suit and purple tie. The two exchanged vows and were married under a rustic arch made from branches and flowers.
Afterwards the happy newlyweds and their guests enjoyed live music performances and touching speeches from their family and friends. The cupcake tower and homemade pies at the dessert table were a hit and a great alternative to a wedding cake.
To honor the bride’s heritage, the couple changed into traditional African clothing and celebrated with dancing. Their multicultural celebration was beautiful and we were honored to be a part of it all!
