NYC S Models Test Shoot
Le Image had the pleasure of testing with S model numerous times. This German native is very happy-go-lucky and the farthest thing from conceited, saying that being model was never her game plan as she did not considered herself “…beautiful or a model type”. Wrong as she was, Jess is glad she stumbled into modeling and now considers fashion modeling a passion for her.
It all started with comments from family members and friends suggesting she go to an agency but it wasn’t until her proactive brother sent photos of Jess to an agency in Vienna that she stepped into the fashion world. She modeled in Europe for a year but didn’t make it her only focus as she wanted to concentrate on her studies. That all changed when she came to the United States this December and signed with S Models. She now models full-time but keeps a level head, stating that she would “…like to start a master’s degree in political science and focus on that later on” as modeling is an amazing but short career.
While Jess is new to New York, she has already picked up on the difference between Brooklyn and Manhattan culture. She explains that Brooklyn, in terms of photography and fashion, is more ‘raw….and focused on creativity’ while Manhattan shoots can be more ‘commercialized’. Jess looks back fondly on her shoot with Le Image in Dumbo, Brooklyn. She explains how rushed she felt coming in as she had had a full morning of castings and was scared of being late. Jess comments that she felt much better when she met the team as they were “…so professional….[and] full of energy”. The most memorable part of our shoot for her was the videotaping where she had to stare at a camera for a whopping fifteen minutes with no break in eye contact. She said although it was hard, it was worth it, as she loved the photos and video and even got some good hints on things to do in New York from our resident photographer, Justin Hyte.
Jess is by far, one of the most gracious models we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Even when explaining all the difficulties that come with modeling, such as trekking around endlessly for castings, she adds that she feels so lucky not be stuck indoors all day and how she loves all the “…nice and interesting personalities” she meets in the fashion world. When asked what advice she would give to other aspiring models, she says, “Just give it a try and go to an agency….[but] only good agencies, who are well known and you feel comfortable with” as she feels with her agency S models. Le Image is so happy to have had the chance to work with the wonderful Jess and wish her the best with all her future endeavors.
