Erin and Michael
Any woman who has ever been pregnant knows finding an outfit that is both comfortable and flattering can be a challenge! So we were thoroughly impressed by this pregnant bride who made it look effortless!
Our team started with the couple as they got ready at the historic Lotte New York Palace Hotel (also the set for the popular drama series “Gossip Girl”). The hotel offers a romantic setting for couples seeking a conveniently located venue for their big day. Couples are granted private use of the courtyard for photos, a complimentary suite accommodation for their wedding night and a wedding cake provided by Ron Ben-Israel Cake (named the “Manolo Blahnik of wedding cakes” by New York Times)
Erin was stunning in an embellished maternity wedding dress that fit her perfectly! She paired her gown with silver open- toe pumps and a crown of flowers. Her groom, Michael looked great in a black tuxedo and white bow tie. They opted for a first look before their ceremony and took romantic portraits throughout the venue and on the rooftop of the hotel.
Their ceremony took place in The Villard Manson’s Drawing Room, one of the sophisticated event spaces offered by the hotel. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds “jumped the broom” into matrimony. Jumping over a broom after being married is an African American tradition, celebrated by many Black and interracial couples. Before the legalization of marriage for people of color, this tradition was used as a way to usher a couple into marriage, it’s said that he tradition originated in the West African country of Ghana.
After the nuptials the happy couple and their guests enjoyed dinner and drinks. The reception tables were elegantly decorated with fresh flowers and silk linens. Much to our surprise and delight, the pregnant bride and her new husband took to the dance floor for an orchestrated first dance and impressed everyone in attendance!
They ended the night cutting their 3-tiered wedding cake and thanking everyone for sharing in their big day. We were honored to be a part of it all and wish them (and their bundle of joy) a lifetime of happiness!
