Jaclyn and Jonathan
While many brides dream of an outdoor ceremony on a cloudless summer afternoon, some couples prefer the comfort of the cooler months for their big day. Fall and winter weddings offer many advantages (besides more comfortable temperatures) for getting hitched. The trees change colors and offer a FREE one of a kind backdrop full of warm colors for your outdoor portraits. The weather is cooler so there is less humidity, which means that beautiful up do that your hairstylist spent two hours on will stay put longer! And since your ceremony is most likely going to be indoors (unless you brave the cold like this gorgeous pregnant bride and her hubby did), you don’t have to worry about rain on your big day! If that isn’t enough to make you consider a winter weddings, the added bonus of lower reception pricing at most venues will be sure to do the trick!
Jacklyn and Jonathan knew November was the right month for their big day and chose the Prospect Park Picnic House to host their wedding. Our photographers skipped the getting ready process and met the pair at the park for their first look.
The Bride was beautiful in a winter white gown and fur shawl. We loved her fall inspired bridal bouquet of lillies and orchards wrapped in silk! Her groom wore a coordinating boutonniere and looked great in a blue suit and tie. Our team spent some time with the happy couple as they strolled around the park before their ceremony. Inside the family gathered for the signing of the Ketubah, a Jewish tradition where the Bride and Groom (and two witnesses) sign a certificate that outlines the rights and responsibilities of each spouse.
The Picnic House offers an open raw space for couples to customize for their wedding day. Jacklyn and Jonathan chose to have their guests sit at the tables for their ceremony and created an aisle down the center.
They exchanged vows under a beautiful floral and wooden Chuppah. The Chuppah (another Jewish wedding tradition) is a canopy that symbolizes the home that the newly married couple will create together. Sunshine Flower (a local Brooklyn flower shop) decorated the canopy and created the beautiful floral centerpieces as well.
After being pronounced Husband and Wife, their guests joined them for dinner and dancing. The live band, The Bayside Tigers kept the party going with hits from the 90’s and everyone had a blasts.
It was a night to remember and we were honored to be a part of it all!
