Museum of Natural History Engagement
Pretty much everyone under the age of 60 has mastered the perfect “selfie” taking angle right? Never shoot from below, Always angle the front facing camera above your head AND don’t forget to turn on the beauty filter! (if you are uploading to instagram be sure to add on one of their amazing filters for that added “wow factor”). But what happens when it’s someone else taking the pics? Add in frazzled nerves, missing floral bouquets and all the other mishaps that can happen on your big day and taking relaxed (and flattering) photos may be the last thing on your mind!
If you are anything like me when a camera turns toward you, the deer in headlights mode switches on! Not to mention that awkward hand-on-your-chin high school pose doesn’t work so well in a wedding gown. Which is one of the many reasons we always suggest adding an engagement photo shoot to your wedding package. Not only is it a great opportunity to work with your photographer before your big day, (he can give you some pointers on posing, flattering angles etc) but also one of the few wedding related shoots that will not be on a time crunch.
We had the honor of capturing Hera and Nick at The American Museum of Natural History recently and think the photos came out great! The couple contacted us seeking a photography package for their summer wedding and knew they wanted an opportunity to take professional photos before the big day.
Both Brooklyn natives they met in Psychology class at Brooklyn Tech back in 2007. After texting, sharing homework and chatting in class for 6 months, they finally decided to go on a movie date and the rest is history!
Whether it’s your favorite coffee shop or a the park your first picnic in, choosing a location that has meaning to you is a sure fire way to get great photos. Hera & Nick would often go on dates at the museum in their college days and even landed jobs there! (although you don’t have to be an employee to take photos there ) They loved the beauty of the halls and we think they made a great choice (both in their shoot location and each other!)
We can’t wait to be a part of their big day!
