Maison May Dekalb Wedding
A 19th century brownstone converted into a French kitchen, Maison May Dekalb, is a favorite amongst our photographers. It offers an elegant dining room and ivy-draped garden for intimate weddings and events. Sourcing their menu from local farmers, butchers and fishermen, the Maison May Dekalb staff works closely with every client to create the perfect wedding.
Set to wed at the Brooklyn-based venue, Marsha and David found our studio this past spring after discovering this gorgeous same sex couple, David & Ryan’s wedding photos on our site. They wanted to capture their intimate 40-guest wedding candidly and incorporate important landmarks from their neighborhood.
Our photographers started with the couple at their home as they prepped for the big day. Marsha wore an elegant bob and vintage inspired A-line wedding dress, while David kept it classy in a 3-piece suit. (This is seriously one of the cutest couples we have shot!) They had their first look in the corridor of their home and hopped in a cab (true NY style) to take portraits in the area.
One of the advantages of a first look is getting to spend some time alone with your fiancé’ before the festivities of the day begin. It can be a very intimate and special time for you and your partner and give you the opportunity to be present during cocktail hour. (That’s often the only time available to do portraits and family photos)
Brooklyn offers amazing artistic elements that translate beautifully in photos. The couple strolled down DeKalb Avenue and surrounding area before heading over to Maison May Dekalb to get changed for their ceremony.
Marsha added a flattering blusher veil and traded in her trendy lace up boots for peep toe kitten heels (love her style!). The couple included personal elements into their wedding like an embroidered pillow with their names and wedding date and tissue favors to wipe the “tears of joy” for the guests. Their ceremony was beautiful and included personal vows (those tissues came in handy!)
Maison May Dekalb decorated the Parlor Floor in sage linens and rustic centerpieces. The couple rented a photo booth for the guests to enjoy and provided fun props like Viking hats and faux mustaches! Everyone had a great time and our team was honored to be a part of their intimate Brooklyn wedding.
