The Onderdonk House Wedding
Ok, we know what you are thinking, this is New York City, there is no way I’m gonna find a venue within the boroughs with over an acre of open space, lush gardens AND an outdoor tented reception area within walking distance from the subway. Well think again! This historic intimate venue may be the best kept secret in Queens and our photographers are happy to be in on it!
Audrey and Alex hired our team to capture their spring wedding at The Onderdonk House where they planned to host 80 of their closets friends and family. Our photographers arrived early (of course! ) to scope out the grounds and find the best area for the couple first look that would take place before their outdoor ceremony.
The beautiful Bride was getting ready in the second floor dressing room with her Maid of Honor and mother. We absolutely loved the vintage décor in the venue. The original wood walls are still in place and really give the space a cozy cabin feel. Audrey wore an elegant lace gown and styled her hair in an up do with a baby’s breath accent comb. Her bouquet was an assortment of wild flowers and went perfectly with her rustic/bohemian theme! Meanwhile the groom enjoyed a cocktail with his best man and father in the library downstairs.
The couple decided to do their portraits before the ceremony and had their first look in the garden. Our photographer captured romantic photos of the pair around the venue (while the chickens kept watch) and guests arrived.
The outdoor ceremony was beautiful and even included personalized vows. After wards everyone enjoyed cocktails while the reception tables were set up. The long tables lined the tent and each setting enjoyed a fresh floral centerpiece provided by Willam’s Wildflowers. The party kicked off with the first dance and funny speeches from family of the newlyweds. Staying true to the historic setting the couple chose “The Vintage DJ” to host their party, who spun oldies but goodies from the 1920’s through to the 70’s on a vintage record player! As the sunset the couple joined their guests for a Bonfire of roasted marshmallows.
We absolutely loved capturing all the amazing parts of this rustic wedding and appreciated the fact that we could get home in 30 minutes or less! Bravo Audrey & Alex and here’s to a lifetime of happiness!
