26 Bridge Wedding
We started with the brides, Fabienne & Philana at the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge, as they got ready for their big day. Fabienne wore an ivory gown with intricate embroidering while Philana wore a strapless white wedding dress accentuated with a ribbon belt. Our photographers captured their first look at the downtown Hotel before heading over to the Dumbo area for portraits.
Dumbo offers amazing views of the East River, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and an array of murals painted by local artist that provide a perfect backdrop for photos. (Check out this hilarious engagement video (Love Story) shot in Dumbo!)
First looks are a great opportunity to spend some time alone with your future spouse before the festivities of the day start. It also gives the couple time to get comfortable in front of the camera and capture those intimate moments when it’s just the two of you. These beautiful brides took full advantage of their time alone and posed for fun photos under the Dumbo Archway with paper parasols (a favorite for outdoor weddings) and even included their puppy, Lucy, in the fun.
Brooklyn Bridge Park is becoming a popular choice for outdoor weddings (trailing closely behind the #1 choice, Central Park). While the park does carry a hefty fee of $400 to get married there, for many couples the price tag is worth it. Jane’s Carousel and Pebble Beach are amongst the most popular choices for ceremony locations in the park.
Fabienne and Philana exchanged vows near the carousel and even had a beautiful wedding arch draped in ivory constructed on the boardwalk. The guests were provided with paper parasols to provide shade from the sun as the two become spouses. Afterwards, the Brass Band, “High & Mighty” a New Orleans Funk inspired group, serenaded the new Brides and their guests across cobblestoned streets as they made their way to 26 Bridge Street.
This new venue, formerly a factory converted into an event space, is affiliated with BK Venues, a collection of unique venues located in Brooklyn. The Dumbo Loft, also part of the BK Venues, is a favorite amongst our wedding photographers. The 26 Bridge Street venue boost high ceilings, skylights, and original brick walls from its’ former metal factory days. The entrance of the space is outfitted with two beautiful barn style wooden doors.
The tables were decorated to reflect the rustic style of the newlyweds and personal touches added by the couple throughout the space really made their wedding special. (We loved the repurposed liquor bottles as candleholders!) The guest enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres provided by in-house catering and touching speeches from those closest to the Brides.
The DJ kept the party going well into the night and the space offered plenty of room for everyone to get involved in the dance party! All in all this was an amazing day for a couple of amazing women! We were honored to be a part of it!
