Brooklyn Winery Wedding
This past September, Le Image Inc had the great pleasure of providing the wedding photography and videography for Tony and Michael’s New York wedding. The couple first met in 1995 after Mike posted a personal’s ad on an AOL gay dating board. After exchanging emails for a week, the couple met for coffee and soon became smitten. The two moved in with each other after less than a year of dating.
The devoted couple’s journey to the altar was not an easy one. Before same sex marriages became legal in New York, the only option available to them was to register as domestic partners. Although the couple was deeply committed to each other at that time, they wanted to wait until same sex marriage became legal. The day after marriage equality had finally become recognized by the state, Tony proposed. The two were staying at Tony’s parents’s home in Pennsylvania when Tony woke up mike and proposed to him on the deck of his family’s backyard. So romantic!
Our wedding photographers truly enjoyed working with this couple and providing their New York wedding photography. The couple’s wedding ceremony was held at Mike and Tony’s traditional Episcopal church. It was very important to the couple that they were married in their church and have their religion recognize the validity of gay weddings as well as the state. One of the grooms explains, “To receive both legal and religious recognition of our union before both our family and friends was wonderful”.
After a very touching and meaningful wedding service, the dapper couple headed to their wedding reception venue at Brooklyn Winery. Fitted with matching top hats, the newlyweds enjoyed a reception filled with friends and family. Before the delicious hors d’oeuvres could be enjoyed, the couple had their first dance followed by a dance with both of their mothers. This sweet moment was a favorite of both the grooms and was captured in beautiful detail by their wedding photographer. Le Image has taken many same-sex wedding photos, but these are among our favorites! Our New York wedding photographer truly captured the happiness and atmosphere of their wedding day. We truly wish them the best and feel grateful they chose us to capture wedding day. Congratulations to them both!
