Riverside Church Same Sex Wedding
Many great accomplishments have been made in this country in the last decade. The election of the first African American President and the legalization of same sex marriage in all 50 states has ushered in a spirit of unity and acceptance among many people. While New York has always been a progressive state, and fortunately same sex couples in NYC are able to find a place to attend religious services without fear of judgment! Riverside Church was founded on the principles of acceptance and love for all people. The church offers several beautiful spaces for wedding ceremonies and reception space as well.
Tracy and Lauren contacted our studio seeking a 2 photographer and videography team to capture every special moment of their day. We started with the Brides at The Beacon Hotel on Broadway and 75th street as they got ready. Tracy was stunning in a strapless gown with ribbon belt. She wore her hair in a romantic up do topped off with a mid length veil. Her soon-to-be wife Lauren, looked picture ready in a “hot fem tux” (her words verbatim!) and crisp white shirt. Both ladies had help from their mothers and family to get ready for their ceremony.
The happy couple met at the altar in the Chapel of the Church and exchanged vows before their family and friends. After being pronounced married everyone gathered outside for portraits.
We loved the bright fuchsia bridesmaids gowns and pastel yellow flower girl dresses. Tracy’s bridal bouquet also had hints of fuchsia and yellow that looked great in the photos! (check out the hint of fuchsia in Lauren’s socks!) Incorporating beautiful colors into your wedding attire and décor is a great way to really make your photos pop! The newlyweds also took a few photos together in Riverside park before heading inside for their reception.
The reception kicked off with their first dance and went well into the night with touching speeches from their friends and some pretty amazing dance moves! Our videographer caught every moment and created a traditional style video for the Brides to cherish forever.
We were honored to be a part of this beautiful wedding and wish them a lifetime of happiness!
